Hey All,
As I wait for my Howard Hill "Wesley Special" I have been doing some research and talked with some guys online. Apparently the Hill style bows like a heavy arrow so I was thinking about going with laminated birch.
How does the moisture and climate effect wood arrows and especially in Maine where the weather changes every five minutes.
Any help would be appreciated
........still learning................

I like wood for longbows personally. Moisture won't affect the shaft noticeably, if it's sealed properly, just don't leave them out for several days lost behind your target. I dip mine in spar varnish, 2-3 coats, but gasket lacquer has a good reputation too.
Are you looking to order some already made or getting shafts and building your own? |

I was thinking of buying some prefinished shafts, fletching them myself and then making my own once i buy all the gear.
any reputable suppliers out there? I have been shopping with 3 Rivers.
what kind of wood do you use on yours?
